FRIDAY REVIEW- PODA PODI-Osthi Velan is back into commercial network but taking a romantic route from his MASS OSTHI. Poda Podi is a debut film for director Vignesh with music by Dharan . It also marks the debut of Varalakshmi Sarathkumar- Daughter of ace actor Sarathkumar.Poda Podi is a narrative description of Arjun( STR @ Simbu) and Nisha(Varalakshmi) who takes us through seven stages of their love cum marriage life. It starts with the famous number of "Love Panlaama venaama" .
Post-Interval, the audiences are taken into another break-up with finally Arjun himself pairing up with Nisha for "Lets Dance". Does this idea work out or not ? This has to be watched on screens. Simbu's dialogue Delivery is the greatest plus point of the movie and his acting skills are highly improving on a increasing slope. Presence of VTV ganesh's voice surely adds laughter to the plot. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar does have certain places to prove her acting skills and she does it right. Shobana does not have a great role to mention with.
Music is the Next plus point. Every other number suits the movie perfectly. Three songs need special mention. First will be "Love Panlaama Venaa" . Not that it has been a viral hit even before the audio launch. but it will be a treat for simbu fans as we can get to see previous characters of simbu in costumes of Vallavan, Osthi, VTV and Manmadhan .Also added will be the presence of Santhanam and Premgi in that song. Secondly comes " I am a Kuthu Dancer" . This again is a treat for Simbu fans as we get to see the famous simbu moves of "En Aasai Mythiliye".."DanDanakka".."Loosu Penne"... and "Yemmadi Aathadi" in it.
Lastly, "Appan Mavane Vaa da "is a song to a son from his father with beautifully penned lyrics and for the first time shot in DISNEYLAND for a tamil movie. PODA PODI is surely a youth entertainer and a 120 minutes of stress free colourful ride. Rated 2.5/5
