FRIDAY REVIEW: SETHUPATHY

FRIDAY REVIEW: SETHUPATHY : A Tamizh commercial cop story from director S.U Arun Kumar. Starring Vijay Sethupathy, Remya Nambeesan and many others, the movie is straight from the books of cliched police story where the protagonist fights with just one baddie and its all about that.

PLUS: Vijay Sethupathy jumps into mass hero shoes for the first time and has donned it pretty good. On one side he plays the toughie cop and the other side a perfect husband to Remya Nambeesan and better dad to both kids. It is also Nivas Prasanna's(music director) first mass movie and the combo has worked big time. "Naan Yaaru" in Anirudh's voice keeps reverberating at many places. The BGM is a gethu factor and a major plus of second half. Vaathiyar role(baddie) played by Vela Ramamoorthy shares equal mass moments. There are many commercial power scenes to clap and hoot around.

MINUS: Though the run-time is a little under two hours, the screenplay drags it too long . There is nothing new done to the many times tested plot of Tamizh cinema.

VERDICT: An enjoyable mass commercial and a good start for Vijay Sethupathy.

RATED: 2.5/5
